Message from the CEO

Two significant events kick off this week – the media launch of the 73rd Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and celebrations to mark the 50th Anniversary of Australia’s Admiral’s Cup win, including the Regatta at the CYCA this coming weekend, 1-3 December.

On Wednesday five RSHYR 2017 skippers/owners will face the media in the Freya Room. They are Sandy Oatley on behalf of the Oatley family (Wild Oats XI), Matt Allen (Ichi Ban), Christian Beck (InfoTrack), Zoe Taylor (G.O.) and Shane Kearns (Komatsu Azzurro).

‘Dorade’ will also be available in the marina for photo opportunities.

Meanwhile, last week a very special delivery arrived at reception from the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC).

The Admiral’s Cup is currently on show in the trophy cabinet upstairs in the CYCA as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations. This is now in addition to the material on display  in the cabinets downstairs in the club .

Musto International Youth Match Racing Championship

The Musto International Youth Match Racing Championship gets underway this week at the CYCA.

Welcome and good luck to the 15 teams competing from seven countries - USA, Japan, France, Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden and Australia taking in this World Sailing Grade 2 match race from Tuesday, 28 November through to Friday, 1 December.

Noakes Boat & Shipyard 7s Series

It's been a busy few weeks for the Elliott 7s with the Noakes 7s Series wrapping up last week, Sean Langman taking the win. Click here for an overview of the racing.

New Membership Cards

From Monday, 4 December we will commence issuing new CYCA membership cards. The new card technology has changed from the magnetic strip to a proximity (proxy) reader card.

To avoid any lengthy postal delays at this time of the year, or worse still the cards going missing in the post, members can collect their new card from reception. If you need to access the car park to collect your new card after the change-over has taken place, please buzz reception to gain entry.

The new cards will provide 24/7 access to the new change and laundry facilities in the Sailing/Marina building, as well as provide access to the car park and your discount at the bar.

We are now able to print cards on site, so the previous lengthy delays in getting new cards are a thing of the past.

All details for collecting new membership cards will be included on the website later this week and on Facebook.
